PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITI / RESEARCH
At 2003 he founded HYBRIDa, with Sylvia Felipe. An Architecture design studio involved in the development of an integrated design strategy that intersects computation, parametric design, biomimetic engineering and digital fabrication, in order to create and design objects, spaces or architectural systems that respond and adapt to their environment.
At 2004 he won a grant from the British Council (Arts and Humanities Research Council AHRB) to research on new materials at the Department of Biommimetics, University Of Reading. UK.
In 2009 he has directed a research project focusing on mechatronics applied to architecture funded by the Catalonian government (GENESIS-CIDEM)
During 2010 has directed the project PARA-Site at the ADDA, ELISAVA BioDesign Reserch Lab, an interactive adaptable structure, on the field of the responsive architecture.
At 2012 he is project leader of the Seventh European Research Program, CAPACITIES HYPERMEMBRANE. HYPERMEMBRANE is to be an adaptable system to produce an immense variety of complex structural morphologies for architectonical proposals through a modular standardized driven by a software system.
During 2015 / 2017 He was also the project leader and coordinator of the FP7 European Research program DEMOPREOJECT HYPERMEMBRANE.
At 2018 he has received founding from Spanish government CDTI, within NEOTEC program, to continue developing Dynamic Envelopes for the HYPERMEMBRANE.
He has been combining Research, Academics with his Professional work at HYBRIDa, where over the last eighteen years has developed projects of various scales, and topics, from a single-family houses, mixed use buildings, Research Projects to their last won competition (with Azcon Architects) a 23,000 m2 hotel Tembo Suites and Apartments, at Port Forum Barcelona, already under construction.
